Freddy’s Doggy Fashion Show is Back!

Park Slope 5th Avenue’s Festival, Fundraiser and Find-A-Pup Adoption Event

to benefit Badass Animal Rescue

The afternoon’s main attraction is the Doggy Fashion Show, where over 40 dressed-up doggies will strut their stuff on the elevated catwalk to songs chosen especially for each participant. There will also be pup-arazzi taking photos on the red carpet, the runway, and throughout the entire event, which will be available to the public. The event will also feature Badass’ cutest collection of pups available for adoption, live music to get tails wagging, pet portraits to capture paw-some moments, personalized embroidered doggy bandanas to accessorize pups in style, and a variety of dog games, raffles, and vendors for dogs and humans.

Freddy’s Doggy Fashion Show, launched over a decade ago, has grown into one of Park Slope 5th Avenue’s favorite annual events. Initially inspired by co-owner Donald O’Finn’s affection for his dog, it went on hiatus during COVID. That’s when Park Slope dog guru Abby Login, a former corporate event producer who had entered her own dogs in past years, stepped up to produce the event as a benefit for Badass Animal Rescue. Abby, a longtime dog owner and South Slope resident, is the founder of abbythedogmom, which focuses in walking, socializing, sitting/boarding, puppy basics training, and catering to needs of pups and owners. Doggy contestants can register onsite.

Now in her third year running Freddy’s Doggy Fashion Show, Abby says it’s especially meaningful to be part of bringing the community together. “Everyone involved – the performers, helpers, photographers, me – do it as non-paid volunteers to raise funds for and support the great work done by Badass Rescue. I’m motivated by the love of dogs and this community; they’re everything to me. I wanted to make Donald and the community proud.”

“Freddy’s Doggy Fashion Show is a beloved annual event on the South Slope end of 5th Avenue,” says Park Slope 5th Avenue BID executive director Joanna Tallantire. “It delivers a fun day to the community and plays a significant role in supporting our local small businesses. We love the way the neighborhood turns out to watch the parade of pups.”
