#Repost @harborfitness with @get_repost ・・・ In honor of National Women's Health and Fitness day, we chose to highlight a member of our staff who has overcome great adversity and has made great strides in health as well as fitness. In Amanda's own words, she reflects that "Due to childhood trauma, I adapted a lot of negative traits. I never felt “good enough”. Starting my adolescence, I developed anorexia and I would only eat one meal a day. It consumed me and I got to the point where I didn’t even have the energy to get up from bed. Food became my comfort and I closed myself off completely. I became very socially anxious and felt as if my presence was nauseating. I’d go into work and wait for the minute that I could run out. I brought myself to the point where I didn’t even want to look at myself in pictures or even the mirror. Everything changed on Oct. 4, 2017. That’s when I decided to make the change my life was needing…That night, a spark ignited in my soul. I pushed myself. While trying to balance school and work, I sacrificed sleep to cook and exercise. I stopped making excuses and second guessing myself and started to put my mental and physical health as a priority." Since then I am 30 pounds lighter and I feel better than I ever have." What are you willing to sacrifice? @mdmaphotos . . . #NationalWomensHealthandFitnessDay #harborstrong #strongwoman #bklynstrong #determination #grit #witnessgreatness #strive #betteryourself
