#Repost @bhoomki with @get_repost ・・・ Today Tuesday, April 24 marks the 5th Anniversary of the Rana Plaza Fashion Factory Collapse, the worst disaster in the history of the apparel industry. Had factory owners complied with basic building and worker safety codes, 1,134 senseless deaths and over 2500 injuries could have been avoided; all in the name of our planet's endless appetite for cheap clothes and big fashion brands' race to the bottom line. This disaster has made this much clear: Carelessness and abuse in the fashion industry cannot continue. The good news is that change is happening. Brands young and old are beginning to understand the importance of embracing ethical making methods in their supply chain. Fashion lovers and activists have created a global campaign called Fashion Revolution Week to stress the importance of change in the fashion industry. Click here to learn more about how you can help make a change by changing your clothes. As you know, Bhoomki has never compromised on any of the above values. That’s why we make our clothes in an ethics-minded, labor-compliant factory. It’s why we embrace using natural and recycled materials like Cupro and organic cotton in our collections. It's why we stock brands like Elk, KowTow and People Tree who prioritize slow fashion and organic fabrics and share our commitment to the planet and her people. Pictured here, our factory partners Taruna and Somal (top row far left) who are committed to providing safe working conditions and living wage to their employees. . . . . .
