FIFTY YEARS AGO THIS WEEK, the patrons of the only bar in all of Manhattan that would allow them to slow dance together fought back when they were forced—yet again—to break it up. In between then and now, we suffered unmercifully through the incalculable toll of a horrific plague, and worked our asses off, determined to survive and to thrive. We have fought for and won marriage equality, and we have made phenomenal progress on a path with still very far to go, committed to true equality for the entire LGBTQ community. Celebrate.
