In early May, Mayor De Blasio announced that a number of open streets locations in the city will be enhanced during the summer with the Open Boulevards program (more info on the NYC website).
What does this mean for 5th Avenue?
As of June 5th:
- We will be adding 3rd-4th Street to our open streets closures,
- 4th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues will be completely closed to cars and we will be adding public seating (tables and chairs) and performances,
- We will add Sundays to our Open Streets Program (11am – 10pm) from July 4th – September,
- Arts and cultural programs will be added by the City of New York in the coming months.
